Sometimes, amidst all the chaos, dessert comes from the supermarket packaged food aisle.

I was walking down the packaged food aisle at the market and this Sylvia’s Restaurant dessert mix caught my eye. Mulling over the fact that it goes against my usual from-scratch cooking, I grabbed it thinking that it might come in handy some day, and it did. The peach cobbler was a cinch to make and quite decent considering it came out of a bag and a can.

Individual package instructions – Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Melt 1/2 stick (4 tbsp) butter or margarine in an 8×8 or 9×9 baking dish. Mix 2/3 cup milk into Peach Cobbler mix. Pour batter on top of butter, then pour 1 can (15-16 oz) sliced peaches with syrup on top of batter. Bake 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown. For fresh peaches use 2 cups of peeled and sliced peaches mixed with syrup. (For syrup, use 1/4 cup sugar dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water.) Other fruit may be substituted for peaches.
